Re: Noble Pen
As per the below - Moyes made the shout and got it wrong. If Noble scored he'd be a ledge. But he didn't so it was the wrong decision.

The point raised which I think is spot on - if it happened a few minutes earlier, or was a pen to win the game, no way would he have brought Noble on.

I think he got caught up in the crazy end to the game and made a rash decision.

If we get a pen next week - who takes it? He clearly doesn't trust Rice to score.

There were some Mancs in with us who got battered at the end. Apart from that no one seemed bothered. Were you booing?

Admit you were in with the MANU fans. Of course they would of thought it a great decision.
I watched with a neutral and he said it was a mistake.

gph, I think you may be making a huge assumption that many of the "shut ins" on this site are able to move at all?

Re: Noble Pen
Although adrenalin is known as the "fight or flight" hormone, it also prepares you for other forms of physical activity.

If you don't move around when its levels are high, you just get wound up.

You only have to look at WHO during a match to see this...

Re: Noble Pen
I'll be honest and say I can't see the 'adrenalin' thing being a factor.....he's West Ham like us he must of been on the sidelines thinking we can't lose like this to these cunts like the rest of us, so if that is the case his head would have been rushing with adrenalin surely?

How the fuck do you know what Noble was thinking when he was running up to kick the ball? Maybe he changed his mind at the last minute when normally he doesn't, only he will know, but it is a scientific fact that adrenaline is absolutely critical in elite sport as it combats the symptoms of stress, causes a noticeable increase in strength and performance and heightens awareness.

Noble was stone cold, his adrenaline levels would have been nowhere near the levels required to keep a calm head under pressure...he's a human being not a fucking machine

Well in the Trev lower they seemed ok with it. Maybe its because we were along way away

Everyone around me in the BML was shaking their heads in disbelief saying it was madness that Noble was being brought on....and i've not heard one single pundit or ex-player say it was a good idea either

You do realise that its not just about stretching and warming up the muscles it's also about having your game head on and getting a feel of the ball. Often subs take a while to get into a game because it takes them a few touches to get the feel of the ball and get their adrenaline up to the right levels

Noble was stone cold, he hadn't kicked the ball and his adrenaline would not have been anywhere near the right level to keep calm and make the right decision in a pressurised situation

Eerie Descent 7:04 Mon Sep 20
Re: Noble Pen
Hard to be critical of Moyes overall of course, but this was a huge error, simple as that. He's allowed to get things wrong, and we're allowed to criticise bad decisions.

It shows a complete lack of clarity about what happens when we get a penalty. It was clearly a decision made off the cuff, it was muddled and panicked thinking, and it cost us a huge point.

Still, we move on.

Re: Noble Pen
Given all the sites dedicated to stats in the game, there should be the stats for penalties scored by players who are brought on just to take the penalty vs players already on the pitch

Would make interesting reading.

Well not that interesting, but worth a quick gander.

Anyone can miss a penalty but fair play to noble for taking it

arsene york-hunt 6:45 Mon Sep 20
Re: Noble Pen
People miss penalties, everybody misses penaties and they don't do it on purpose!
The substitution for him to take the penalty seemed like a great decision before the kick. Like others have said you don't need to be "warmed up" to kick one ball once. All that talk about warming up is bollocks seen, with 20:20 retrospectovision by "experts". We were all gutted, but Noble was easily the best option at the time.
